Sick at home...

Posted by Carf Aug. 3, 2010 @ 8:43 AM EDT

Cause I am waiting for THE answer of my latest job interview...
Being at home for 6 months thanks to my last manager who did
not liked me for personal reasons and kicked me out of the group.
Now a 28 year old dutchie knows how it is to be really jobless...
But every sour thing must have a bright side... after weeks of
sollicitating, sending emails, jobhunting I found THE ad which
was written for me.

nighttime QA Tester for Guerrilla Software in Amsterdam.

With just NO professional experience at all I just send my mail,
told them that I am a gamer for 24 years with a LOT of creative
experience in multimedia - audio and writting.

4 hours later...

I received an email back from them, within 4 hours!!! Where it takes other
companies 4 months to send me an awnser they just replied almost
instantly!

The mail was very positive
*We're more than happy to invite you for an onsite interview*

So I started to prepairing.
What exactly is QA - Read interviews with other Testers - prepair for the questions which could come up... and then the big day.

Although I am proud that Gu is the NR1 in Holland I never really had a special feeling towards the company as I have for other GameCompanies of GameGuru's.
But... at the moment when I rung the doorbell I felled a spark, a creative spark, I knew that this would be very very interesting (to quote Elize ;p)

The interview itself:
I had the interview with the Lead QA guy (sorry no names) and one other guy from the team itself and thank God... they broke my nerves just at the first second. The interview itself was outside in the garden of the company.
I have explained them that I am NOT there just to get a job to Game all day... cause I can imagine that they had a LOT of these kinds of groupies before, so making that statement clear made things a bit more professional instantly.
We talked about games, testing, my past and my drive and passion for games and being creative.
The convo went almost smoothly, I was able to control my nerves for most of the time.

Then he showed me around the office, and damn... it has a vibe for sure :).
The tour ended at the QA department itself and it was just like standing in one of the working area's of the basement (for those who are familiar with my story Neo-Gaia, you know what I talk about).
There I met a part of the team and I felled at home straight away.

My interview ended with me showing 2 movies of stuff which I have done with UDK just to show that
am familiar with 3d design and all kinds of stuff.
I did not say and expert but I am familiar with it... I know how it works... but I did not want to give them the feeling that I just *walk in and do the job*
Ooow no I am VERY aware that I still need to learn a HELL OF A LOT.

So far so good... then that moment that you step up and leave the building...
But before that he gave me a hand and tolt me...*that wasn't bad at all*

And now I am sitting here... 6 day's later... sick as a dog... throath stuck for days already...
waiting for that answer which could change my life...

Please give me this change... please...
